<description>Levaduras multifuncionales de origen enológico : evaluación de su potencial probiótico y características tecnológicas para ser empleadas como starters en procesos fermentativos
Vergara Alvarez, Silvia Cristina
Una tendencia actual en la microbiología de los alimentos es el empleo de microorganismos multifuncionales. Un cultivo iniciador o starter también puede ser capaz de desempeñar otra/s funciones tales como probiótico, reducir la presencia de compuestos tóxicos, producir vitaminas, entre otras. Las levaduras asociadas al proceso de vinificación, están plenamente adaptadas a las condiciones hostiles presentes durante el proceso tales como bajo pH, osmotolerancia, baja disponibilidad de oxígeno y concentraciones crecientes de etanol. Además, diversas especies presentan propiedades de hidrofobicidad, producción de exopolisacáridos y/o formación de biofilm, características especiales que les permiten una adhesión más óptima a la superficie de la uva, así como crear una barrera protectora contra otros microorganismos y/o factores físico-químicos adversos. Por lo tanto, la resistencia o tolerancia a las condiciones de vinificación (con algunas semejanzas a las del sistema gastrointestinal) sumado a sus similitudes estructurales y funcionales convierte a las levaduras enológicas en potenciales candidatas probióticas para ejercer efectos beneficiosos sobre la salud humana. Por otro lado, diversas especies que participan de la fermentación alcohólica del vino también pueden conducir otros procesos fermentativos en los cuales pueden permanecer viables y activas una vez finalizada la fermentación, tales como la aceituna de mesa y la cerveza artesanal tipo Ale sin filtrar. Es importante destacar que varias de las propiedades tecnológicas deseables para obtener estos productos tienen relación con las aptitudes que se buscan en los microorganismos probióticos. Por lo tanto, el empleo de cultivos starter autóctonas con propiedades probióticas permitiría lograr un producto regional con características distintivas y además brindaría un valor agregado al producto por sus beneficios a la salud del consumidor, lo que significa una mejora competitiva sustancial para el sector alimentario. La Hipótesis del presente estudio fue: “las levaduras autóctonas aisladas de ambientes vitivinícolas se consideran multifuncionales dado que poseen aptitudes para ser empleadas como probióticos para humanos en co-inóculo de aceitunas de mesa y starters en cerveza tipo Ale”. El Objetivo principal fue: estudiar las propiedades probióticas y aptitudes fermentativas de levaduras de origen enológico con el fin de ser emplearlas como cultivos multifuncionales en alimentos fermentados.; Abstract: &#13;
A current trend in food microbiology is the use of multifunctional microorganisms. A starter culture may also be capable of performing other functions such as probiotic, reducing the presence of toxic compounds, producing vitamins, among others. Yeasts associated with the winemaking process are fully adapted to the hostile conditions present during the process such as low pH, osmotolerance, low oxygen availability and increasing ethanol concentrations. In addition, several species exhibit properties of hydrophobicity, exopolysaccharide production and/or biofilm formation, special characteristics that allow them to adhere more optimally to the grape surface, as well as to create a protective barrier against other microorganisms and/or adverse physicochemical factors. Therefore, resistance or tolerance to winemaking conditions (with some similarities to those of the gastrointestinal system) added to their structural and functional similarities make enological yeasts potential probiotic candidates to exert beneficial effects on human health. On the other hand, several species that participate in the alcoholic fermentation of wine can also conduct other fermentative processes in which they can remain viable and active once fermentation is complete, such as table olives and unfiltered craft ale beer. It is important to highlight that several of the desirable technological properties to obtain these products are related to the aptitudes sought in probiotic microorganisms. Therefore, the use of native starter cultures with probiotic properties would allow achieving a regional product with distinctive characteristics and would also provide an added value to the product for its benefits to the consumer's health, which means a substantial competitive improvement for the food sector. The Hypothesis of the present study was: “native yeasts isolated from viticultural environments are considered multifunctional since they possess aptitudes to be used as probiotics for humans in co-inoculation of table olives and starters in Ale type beer”. The main objective was: to study the probiotic properties and fermentative aptitudes of yeasts of oenological origin in order to be used as multifunctional cultures in fermented foods.

<title>Eyecciones coronales de masa interplanetarias en la heliósfera interna : evolución cinemática y morfológica</title>
<link>http://huru.unsj.edu.ar/handle/123456789/807</link>
<description>Eyecciones coronales de masa interplanetarias en la heliósfera interna : evolución cinemática y morfológica
Manini Gómez, Franco Ariel
Las eyecciones coronales de masa (ECMs) son enormes erupciones de plasma solar,&#13;
que se liberan al espacio de forma frecuente. Estas enormes nubes de plasma pueden encontrarse&#13;
en su camino e interactuar con los diversos objetos que conforman el sistema&#13;
solar, tales como asteroides, planetas y naves espaciales. Las ECMs son estructuras complejas&#13;
cuyo estudio es de vital importancia, ya que es necesario comprender sus potenciales&#13;
efectos adversos sobre nuestro planeta y sobre la infraestructura que el ser humano posee&#13;
operativa en el sistema solar.&#13;
El objetivo de esta tesis es investigar la propagación y evolución morfológica de ECMs&#13;
durante su tránsito en los campos visuales de instrumentos de observación heliosférica a&#13;
bordo de la misión STEREO. Para ello, se construyó una base de datos con 370 ECMs&#13;
identificadas inicialmente en el instrumento HI-1. Para estas observaciones, cuando fue&#13;
posible, se buscó observar la ECM en otras etapas de su evolución, con diversos telescopios&#13;
que captan desde su origen en el Sol y su etapa inicial de evolución, hasta su etapa previa&#13;
a la llegada a Tierra, así como la ECM Interplanetaria (ECMI) a 1 unidad astronómica&#13;
(UA).&#13;
Para poder evaluar el cambio en la morfología 3D de las ECMs en su trayectoria por&#13;
el medio interplanetario, además de la observación directa, se construyó una herramienta&#13;
computacional capaz de aplicar el modelo de cuerda de flujo distorsionada (Distortedtoroidal&#13;
Flux Rope Model, Nieves-Chinchilla et al., 2023a) sobre imágenes de ECMs en&#13;
instrumentos heliosféricos, que mayormente exhiben una cavidad oscura. Esta cavidad se&#13;
atribuye a la sección transversal de una cuerda de flujo magnético (CF) cuyo eje axial&#13;
está orientado paralelo a la línea de la visual. Inicialmente, sobre una muestra de 10&#13;
eventos de la lista, se realizó un análisis morfológico aplicando el modelo en distintos&#13;
instantes de tiempo, a lo largo del campo visual de HI-1. Además, para un evento reciente&#13;
de características particulares, se pudieron combinar observaciones heliosféricas desde dos&#13;
puntos de vista distintos, mediante observaciones de las naves STEREO-A y Solar Orbiter.&#13;
De este modo, se pudieron medir las variaciones de los parámetros del modelo a medida&#13;
que la ECM se propaga en el campo visual de los instrumentos.&#13;
Por otro lado, para una muestra de 78 eventos de tipo FR, se examinó su morfología&#13;
general en el campo visual de HI-1, para determinar cuáles son los tipos de distorsiones&#13;
más frecuentes a nivel estadístico.&#13;
Por ´ultimo, se desarrolló una interfaz gráfica para analizar la región frontal de la ECM llamada vaina, permitiendo obtener el ancho de la estructura y compararla con la morfología provista por el modelo anteriormente mencionado, así como hacer un análisis cinemático de las ECMs bajo estudio. Para 8 eventos, se estudiaron parámetros relevantes&#13;
de la vaina, tales como su ancho en luz blanca, intensidad y velocidad.&#13;
Este trabajo contribuye a responder interrogantes pendientes de la comunidad heliosférica, tales como si la complejidad general de las ECMIs se incrementa con la distancia&#13;
al Sol, o si es más común que la estructura se simplifique, o si es posible que algunas&#13;
subestructuras se simplifiquen mientras que otras se hagan más complejas, y entender&#13;
cuáles son las causales de estos cambios. Los resultados obtenidos aquí demuestran que el&#13;
modelo teórico aplicado a las imágenes heliosféricas es de gran utilidad para cuantificar&#13;
los cambios sufridos por las ECMs, y que es más común que la complejidad general de&#13;
las estructuras se incremente a medida que se propagan en el medio interplanetario. Resulta&#13;
fundamental destacar que los descubrimientos de esta investigación representan un&#13;
potencial aporte a la mejora de los pronósticos de meteorología del espacio. Esto resalta&#13;
la importancia del trabajo, dado que la interacción entre las ECMs y el campo magnético&#13;
terrestre puede producir efectos adversos e indeseados para nuestra sociedad.; Abstract:  &#13;
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the propagation and morphological evolution&#13;
of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) during their transit through the fields of view of&#13;
Heliospheric Imagers (HI) on board the STEREO mission. To this end, a database comprising&#13;
368 CMEs initially identified in the HI-1 instrument was constructed. Whenever&#13;
possible, efforts were made to observe these CMEs at other evolutionary stages: their&#13;
solar origin using Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) telescopes; their initial evolution via COR2&#13;
coronagraphs on STEREO-A and -B, and LASCO C2 on board the SoHO spacecraft;&#13;
their pre-Earth arrival stage through the HI-2 instrument; and the Interplanetary CME&#13;
(ICME) at 1 astronomical unit (au) using in situ plasma analysis from the Wind and&#13;
ACE spacecraft.&#13;
To assess the evolution of the 3D morphology of CMEs as they traverse the interplanetary&#13;
medium, in addition to direct observation using the aforementioned instruments, the&#13;
Distorted-toroidal Flux Rope Model was applied. For this purpose, 10 events exhibiting&#13;
a dark cavity were selected; this feature is attributed to the cross-section of a magnetic&#13;
flux rope (FR) with its axis oriented parallel to the line of sight. A morphological analysis&#13;
was conducted for these events by applying the model at various time steps across&#13;
the HI-1 field of view. For three events, the model was also applied to HI-2 and COR2&#13;
imagery. For a recent event with distinct characteristics, it was possible to combine two&#13;
different heliospheric viewpoints using observations from STEREO-A and Solar Orbiter.&#13;
Consequently, variations in the model parameters were measured as the CME propagated&#13;
through the instruments’ fields of view.&#13;
Furthermore, the general morphology of 78 FR-type events was examined within the&#13;
HI-1 field of view to statistically determine the most frequent types of distortion.&#13;
Finally, for applicable events within the same HI-1A imagery, a graphical interface&#13;
was developed to analyze the CME frontal region (sheath). This allowed for the derivation&#13;
of the structure’s width and its comparison with the morphology predicted by the&#13;
aforementioned model, as well as a kinematic analysis of the CMEs under study.&#13;
This work contributes to addressing open questions within the heliospheric community,&#13;
such as whether the overall complexity of ICMEs increases with solar distance or if&#13;
simplification is more common; whether specific substructures may simplify while others&#13;
become more complex; and understanding the drivers behind these changes. The results&#13;
demonstrate that applying the theoretical model to heliospheric imagery is highly effective for quantifying CME evolution, and indicate that the overall structural complexity tends&#13;
to increase as CMEs propagate through the interplanetary medium. It is important to&#13;
highlight that the findings of this research represent a potential contribution to improving&#13;
space weather forecasting. This underscores the significance of this work, given that the&#13;
interaction between CMEs and Earth’s magnetic field can generate adverse effects for&#13;
modern society.

<description>Heat flow model from hydrocarbon well data, as a geothermal prospecting source in Tierra del Fuego Antartic and South Atlantic Islands province, Argentina
Malisia, Carolina Inés
The distribution of terrestrial heat flow presented in this paper focuses on three study areas&#13;
located in the central and northern regions of Tierra del Fuego. This analysis is based on data from&#13;
oil wells in various reservoirs within the Austral Basin, where the Lower Inoceramus and Margas&#13;
Verdes formations serve as the primary source rocks, while the Springhill Formation acts as the&#13;
reservoir rock. Subsurface temperatures vary significantly with depth: from 15° to 70°C at 1,000&#13;
meters, 35° to 120°C at 2,000 meters, and 25° to 150°C at 3,000 meters. Notably, these&#13;
temperatures increase from the southern regions towards the north. The average geothermal&#13;
gradient ranges from 25° to 55°C per kilometer. The overall average thermal flux in the area&#13;
fluctuates between 15 and 55 mW/m², with values increasing from south to north. Specifically, the&#13;
Río Cullen area has thermal flux values ranging from 30 to 60 mW/m², with a general average of&#13;
35 mW/m². The area between the San Martín river and the Herminita river displays values from&#13;
20 to 40 mW/m², achieving an average of 33 mW/m². In contrast, the Laguna Cabo Peñas sector&#13;
shows thermal flux values between 15 and 45 mW/m², with a general average of 35 mW/m². The&#13;
heat flux values provided in this study offer greater detail and precision, highlighting the presence&#13;
of a heat anomaly tied to the tectonic complexity of the basin and its glaciation history. The findings&#13;
will be submitted to the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Tierra del Fuego and will serve as a&#13;
foundation for research projects aimed at developing new energy sources.

<title>Multiplicidad estelar y dinámica de cúmulos abiertos</title>
<link>http://huru.unsj.edu.ar/handle/123456789/802</link>
<description>Multiplicidad estelar y dinámica de cúmulos abiertos
Alejo, Antonio Damián
En este trabajo estudiamos la estructura y la dinámica de diez cúmulos abiertos mediante&#13;
la combinación de datos espectroscópicos, astrométricos y fotométricos, junto&#13;
con herramientas de análisis desarrolladas en lenguaje Python. Se incorporaron observaciones&#13;
propias obtenidas en el Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito, así como datos&#13;
provenientes de los catálogos APOGEE, RAVE, TESS y Gaia. Mostramos que la inclusión de velocidades radiales es fundamental para una determinación robusta de la&#13;
membresía, mientras que el análisis del exceso de ruido astrométrico resalta la importancia&#13;
de la calidad de los datos, particularmente en sistemas múltiples no resueltos.&#13;
Identificamos nuevas variables astrométricas y fotométricas, incluyendo binarias espectroscópicas y sistemas múltiples. La presencia de estos objetos, junto con anomalías&#13;
en los diagramas color–magnitud, evidencia el rol central de la evolución binaria en la&#13;
dinámica de los cúmulos. Si bien no se observa una segregación de masa global significativa,&#13;
encontramos una tendencia a la concentración de los objetos más masivos hacia&#13;
las regiones centrales, consistente con una segregación incipiente. La comparación entre&#13;
escalas de tiempo dinámicas y radios característicos revela una amplia diversidad&#13;
de estados evolutivos, desde cúmulos cercanos al equilibrio dinámico hasta sistemas&#13;
en disolución. El análisis detallado de NGC 2362, IC 2395 y UPK 38 muestra que su&#13;
evolución está determinada tanto por procesos internos como por efectos externos. En&#13;
particular, en NGC 2362 se detecta una pérdida preferencial de estrellas de baja masa,&#13;
mientras que IC 2395 presenta una distribución cinemática asimétrica. En UPK 38, los&#13;
parámetros dinámicos indican una etapa temprana de disolución. En conjunto, estos&#13;
resultados destacan la importancia del entorno en la evolución de los cúmulos abiertos&#13;
y muestran que el análisis del tiempo tmín, definido como el instante en el que una&#13;
estrella alcanza su distancia proyectada mínima al centro del cúmulo, permite estimar&#13;
de manera empírica la tasa de pérdida de estrellas, proporcionando una herramienta&#13;
observacional directa para contrastar modelos dinámicos.; Abstract: &#13;
In this work we study the structure and dynamics of ten open clusters by combining&#13;
spectroscopic, astrometric, and photometric data, together with analysis tools&#13;
developed in Python. We incorporate our own observations obtained at the Complejo&#13;
Astron´omico El Leoncito, as well as data from the APOGEE, RAVE, TESS, and&#13;
Gaia surveys. We show that the inclusion of radial velocities is essential for a robust&#13;
determination of cluster membership, while the analysis of astrometric excess noise&#13;
highlights the importance of data quality, particularly in unresolved multiple systems.&#13;
We identify new astrometric and photometric variables, including spectroscopic binaries&#13;
and multiple systems. The presence of these objects, together with anomalies in&#13;
color–magnitude diagrams, emphasizes the central role of binary evolution in cluster&#13;
dynamics. Although no significant global mass segregation is detected, we find a tendency&#13;
for the most massive objects to be more concentrated toward the cluster centers,&#13;
consistent with incipient mass segregation. The comparison between dynamical timescales&#13;
and characteristic radii reveals a wide diversity of evolutionary states, ranging&#13;
from clusters close to dynamical equilibrium to systems undergoing dissolution. A&#13;
detailed analysis of NGC 2362, IC 2395, and UPK 38 shows that their evolution is governed&#13;
by both internal processes and environmental e ects. In particular, NGC 2362&#13;
exhibits preferential loss of low-mass stars, while IC 2395 displays an asymmetric kinematic&#13;
distribution. In UPK 38, the dynamical parameters indicate an early stage of&#13;
dissolution. Overall, these results highlight the importance of the environment in the&#13;
evolution of open clusters and demonstrate that the analysis of the time tm´ın, defined&#13;
as the instant at which a star reaches its minimum projected distance to the cluster&#13;
center, makes it possible to empirically estimate the stellar loss rate, providing a direct&#13;
observational tool to constrain dynamical models.
